OUR APPROACH
We reviewed the brief giving our input on how the film would best convey the key messages remaining dynamic and visually exciting. Filming in Africa can be challenging - we worked with experienced fixers and producers in Nigeria to set up complex and tight shoot in Lagos. We revised the outline script and asked detailed questions about the logistics/schedule. During the shoot, we remained flexible and ensured that we obtained what we needed despite challenging weather conditions and unpredictable Lagos traffic. And to help communicate the scale and context of the companies’ operations, we worked with a local drone operator to produce high impact images. Overall, our aim was to prepare thoroughly and remain flexible in order to deliver on the brief.
the PROJECT
Sketch was commissioned by Helios Investment Partners, the leading private equity fund focusing on Africa, managing funds totalling $3.6 billion. With strong operational teams on the ground, Helios makes significant investments across multiple sectors and generates value through efficiencies and local market insight. Helios needed to produced a film about three portfolio companies, all showcasing a story of transformation through ‘optimisation and automation’. The films were shown at their annual investor conference. Filming locations included several locations in Nigeria, as well as the UK. Scheduling was challenging as key executives had limited availability. The film also needed to be reviewed and approved by a certain date, given that the film was be a key part of an investor conference in London.
The Result
“Sketch produced our annual film; it was the first time we changed production team for some time, and judging from the audience’s feedback, it was our best film to date. Jeremy and the team were great listeners, balancing meeting our requests with exercising their own creative skill and judgement. They were extremely adaptable in some challenging environments, and extremely receptive to feedback, patient with iteration and ultimately a pleasure to work with. We look forward to working with them on next year’s production.”
