WHAT’S A DEEP FAKE?

OUR APPROACH

The client was keen to use the hand drawn technique. We created the design and the storyboard of all the elements. This was then approved by Carnegie, before all the assets were animated. After two full client reviews, the animation was approved and released online. The aim of the animation was to educate and raise awareness. Deep Fakes are quite complex and using animation helped to break down the process and accurately describe the implications of this technology.

THE PROJECT

Sketch was approached by the US think tank, the Carnegie Endowment for international Peace. The brief was to produce a highly engaging motion animation to a script written by Charlotte Stanton, the director of the Silicon Office. Charlotte has written extensively on deep fakes and is an expert on this fast changing technology. You can follow Charlotte Staton on Twitter. This project had the aim of raising awareness and stimulating debate about the potential impact of ‘deep fake’ videos on democracy and international relations.

THE RESULT

We had a wonderful experience working with Sketch Films. We worked closely with an incredibly talented animator, who took our initial brief and created something extraordinary. The result was better than we could have imagined. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any organization that wants to produce stunning, impactful video content.
